Gorky Zelenodolsk Shipbuilding Plant laid a keel of the lead patrol ship (Type 22160) designed by the Severnoye Design Bureau. The new Vasily Bykov patrol ship is designed for guarding marginal waters; patrolling the economic zone in the international and inland seas; stopping illegal and pirate activity; searching for/providing help to the persons suffered in sea disasters; environmental monitoring; for guarding the ships and vessels while passing the sea and guarding the naval bases and water areas to warn of attack of various forces and weapons in wartime.
In 2014, Russia and Algeria are planned to sign a construction contract for two diesel-electric submarines of Type 636 Varshavyanka. The shipbuilder is Admiralty Shipyard, St. Petersburg. The submarines are supposed to be delivered in 2018. In 2006, Rosoboronexport and the Algerian Ministry of Defence signed a construction contract for two submarines of Type 636 Varshavyanka, which were delivered in 2010. Two more submarines of Type 877EKM being in operational service with the Algerian Navy, were modernised by the Russian shipyards a few years ago.

By 2019, under the Arms State Programme, the Russian Navy will have included nine small missile ships of Type 21631 Buyan-M. As reported by RIA Novosti, it was Admiral Victor Chirkov, Russian Navy Commander-in-Chief, who said it. According to him, one ship of this type, the Veliky Ustyug, will become a part of the Fleet in 2014. Two more ships of Buyan type, the Zeleny Dol and the Serpukhov, will enter the Fleet in 2015. In 2013, the Russian Navy accepted two small missile ships of Type 21631, the Grad Sviyazhsk and the Uglich. Both ships were included into the Caspian Fleet.

At the Vostochnaya Verf (Eastern Shipyard) in Vladivostok, a counter-terror boat is passing the sea acceptance trials. And as early as this spring, a border patrol ship of Type 22460 will be launched. It is known that until recently, a series of boats of Type 21980 Grachonok was built by Gorky Zelenodolsk Shipbuilding Plant in Tatarstan. But now, the same type boats are being built by Vostochnaya Verf. One boat of Grachonok type has been already delivered. The second one was launched at the end of 2013, and now it is passing the sea acceptance trials and acceptance procedure.

The Primorye arbitration court launched insolvency proceedings against Dalzavod. It was MONOLIT construction company that filed a petition to declare Dalzavod insolvent. Dalzavod is indebted 10 million 865 thousand roubles to MONOLIT and stated that it is unable to pay the debt. In order to save the company property and to analyze its financial condition, the Primorye arbitration court launched the insolvency proceedings for Dalzavod. For the next six month the plant will be under supervision. The arbitration manager is Andrei Chesnokov.

The Volgo-Don 238 motor ship was restored: Donrechflot spent about two million dollars to modernise the ship. It was Vasily Philippovich, director general of the company, who said it. As reported by Valentina Sineva, deputy technical director and head of Donrechflot design group, the modernised ship become 30 m longer thus becoming compliant with standard construction length of Type 507B ships. The hull now features new cylindrical inserts (15.6 m long) copying the existing structures. The weight of metal hull structures will be about 270 t.

On 25 February, Sovcomflot group of companies accepted for operation the second VLCC (Very Large Crude Carrier) tanker of Svet series, the largest tankers of the Russian trade fleet having deadweight of 320 000 t. The SKF Shankhai tanker built by Bohai Shipbuilding Heavy Industry shipyard (Huludao, China) is the second ship of this dimension type ordered by Sovcomflot for transporting large batches of oil in international commerce. Today, there are no shipyards in Russia that are capable of building the ships of similar type.

Agency for state property management of the Krasnoyarsk territory announced an auction for some vessels of the river fleet. They are the Mikhail Lermontov motor vessel, the Bliznyak cargo-passenger motor ship, two landing stages, four barges and four small vessels. The starting sale price for the Mikhail Lermontov motor vessel is 4.79 million roubles, and for the Bliznyak is 6.88 million roubles. The cost of barges varies from 388 thousand roubles to 1 million roubles, the price of the landing stages is 950 000 roubles and 1.3 million rubles, and the small-size vessels are valued at 258 thousand roubles. For information, the passenger fleet was included in the privatisation plan last year.
