The Vikramaditya aircraft carrier is to be completed and accepted by India in November. Russia is about to deliver the Vikramaditya aircraft carrier to India in November 2013, as reported by the head of the Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation Alexander Fomin.
The trials of new Burevestnik-24 amphibious vessel were performed in the Moscow region on Pirogov Reservoir. Burevestnik-24 features three operation modes. At speed of 30 km per hour the vessel runs on the water like a standard boat. At speed of 120 km per hour the vessel starts planning on the water surface reducing contact with water. And at speed of 240 km the vessel rises above the water due to the "screen" effect and in this mode it is much more effective than standard vessels.
Under the supervision of the Russian Maritime Register of Shipping (RS) in the Republic of Korea at the STX Offshore & Shipbuilding shipyard laid the keel of new large-capacity LNG carrier (No. S1911) intended for LNG transportation at low temperatures. The vessel is being built under the order of Sovcomflot for Gazprom Global LNG to be classified for joint class of RS and Lloyd's Register.
Yantar Baltic Shipyard (member of United Shipbuilding Corporation) brought the third frigate of the Indian Navy for trials. The trials were started on February 8. The day before, the ship left the waters of shipyard and sailed to military harbor in Baltiysk to be prepared for the first sea acceptance trials.
Moscow State Technical University is now certified for training students using the latest version of the TRANSAS NT Pro 5000 simulator. This simulator allows the Navigation training centre of the Moscow State Naval Academy to provide training at the highest and modern level.
The delegation of the Great Britain Navy is visiting the Northern Fleet. The scheduled meeting was held at the headquarters of between Vice Admiral Vladimir Korolev, the Northern Fleet Commander-in-Chief, and head of delegation Mark Stanhope, First Sea Lord of the UK Admiral. During the meeting the prospects of cooperation between the navies of the two countries were discussed.
Krylov State Research Centre is going to build a new landscape wind tunnel. Project implementation period is about 1.5 year. The landscape wind tunnel is a closed loop with closed operating section of rectangular cross-section where the tested models are placed. The main feature of the landscape wind tunnel is the working part 10.5 m wide with expanded section, which allows simulating the atmospheric boundary layer. Working height of section is 2 meters.
The Russian Ministry of Defence plans to raise the sunken K- 159 and K-27 nuclear submarines from the bottom. The event will be held within the scope of works on clearing the polar waters from pollution under the project "Arctic Development Strategy". Except of raising the sunken submarines from the bottom of the Barents and Kara Seas, of great importance is to eliminate the negative impact of military base activities on the New Siberian Islands, Franz Josef Land, White Island and other arctic lands of the Russian Federation.
