The Arctech Helsinki Shipyard (joint venture of United Shipbuilding Corporation and Finnish subsidiary of STX Offshore and Shipbuilding company) and Finnish Transport Agency signed a contract for construction and delivery of high-tech diesel icebreaker. The contract cost is 123 million euro (including 24 million euro granted for this purpose by European Union). The new icebreaker with propulsion system of 19 MW shall renew the aged state icebreaker park in order to improve the level of the icebreaker maintenance and competitive strength of the Finnish export. The icebreaker is to be delivered to the customer in winter 2016.
Admiralty Shipyard laid a keel of diesel-electric submarine of Type 636.6, the Krasnodar. It is the fourth serial submarine being built by the shipyard for the Russian Navy. In total, the Navy will include six similar submarines. The serial ships construction is to have been completed by 2016. The diesel-electric submarines of Type 636.3 are being built under the Black Sea Fleet restoration programme of the Russian Ministry of Defence and the Russian diesel-electric submarine fleet modernisation programme.

The construction of the main hull of the Knyaz Vladimir, a strategic submarine missile carrier of the new generation, is complete. The hydraulic tests of the structural strength were successful. The work is being carried out on schedule. The Knyaz Vladimir nuclear submarine cruiser was laid on 30 July 2012. The ship was designed by Rubin Central Design Bureau for Marine Engineering, St. Petersburg. It belongs to a new generation of nuclear strategic missile carriers armed with the Bulava ballistic missiles.
STX France shipyard, Saint-Nazaire, completed the construction of the Vladivostok amphibious assault ship staying afloat. It is the first of the two ships of Mistral type ordered for the Russian Navy in France. The first sailing is scheduled for the end of February to conduct sea trials. The exact date depends on the ship readiness and weather conditions.
By the end of February, Yantar Shipyard will have completed the repair of the Yevgeny Kocheskov landing craft air cushion (LCAC) of the Baltic Fleet. The LCAC of Type 12322 Zubr, which is the largest of the class in the world, is in the floating dock now being subject to final operations of onboard repair. The ship delivery to the Baltic Fleet will depend not on the shipyard, but on the weather conditions.
Nevsky Shipyard started construction of medium sea tanker of Type 23130 (serial No. 901). Today, they have already purchased the necessary metal sheets and began cutting. The shipyard announced tenders for purchasing equipment and materials. Laying a keel is scheduled for October 2014.

The Russian Navy submarines of the new generation (Type 677 Lada) will be equipped with air-independent propulsion units to ensure high stealth and endurance. Now, an anaerobic air-independent unit is being developed by Sevmash. The first diesel-electric submarine of Type 677 Lada is planned to be equipped with this propulsion unit in 2016. "Step-by-step re-equipment of the Fleet submarine forces with non-nuclear submarines will allow using a new propulsion principle (for non-nuclear submarines) based on anaerobic (air-independent) propulsion systems. It will significantly improve the stealth and endurance," said commander-in-chief of the Russian Navy, Admiral Viktor Chirkov.
Donbunker accepted for operation the second oil tanker of Type RST05 Istra with sea / river deadweight of 3960 t / 2873 t. The shipbuilder is Don Kassens Shipyard, Aksay. Type RST25 ships are designed for mixed (river-sea) and sea bulk transportation of crude oil and oil products, including petrol, without restriction by flash temperature. Cargo of two grades can be transported simultaneously. The vessels belong to the Volga-Don Max class, i.e. have maximum displacement and dimensions suitable to pass the Volga-Don Canal. - LOA: 118.87 m
- Beam: 13.0 m
- Depth: 5.8 m
- Capacity of 8 cargo tanks and 2 slop tanks: 4 427 cub. m
- Sea deadweight: about 3 947 t at draught of 4.30 m
- River deadweight: 2 860 t at draught of 3.60 m
- Operating speed: 10.0 kn
In Kolomna, they held an official ceremony of laying a keel of the first pontoon section for a floating crane of 45 tons (sea/river class). By characteristics it is the second to none crane in the world. The new assembly is a joint project of Liebherr company and Port Kolomna. Austria makes the crane and Russia the pontoon. The crane capacity when transshipping bulk cargoes is more than 30 thousand tons per day. The assembly specifications allow delivering it to any point at the Russian internal waterways.
Stapel Central Design Bureau designed a dredger for developing sand, sand-gravel and gravel quarries by hydraulic washing-out with ejection; for extracting inert materials and transporting them through the pulp line to ponds or separating plants.
