On 17 October, the Russian Maritime Register of Shipping held an international conference "Arctic Shipping and Shelf Development: Environment Safety and Protection". Among the speakers were Secretary General of IMO Koji Sekimitsu, Deputy Minister of Transport of Russia Victor Olersky, Director General of Atomflot State Corporation Vyacheslav Ruksha, as well as delegations of Germany, Denmark, Finland, representatives of international organisations. The event turned out to be held at the height of the Greenpeace protest action on the Prirazlomnaya platform. Therefore, the environmental issues were paid special attention.
Moscow Shipbulding and Shiprepair Yard in cooperation with October Revolution Shipyard, Blagoveshchensk, delivered the buoyage vessel of type 3050.1, serial No. 242) built under the State Contract for the vessel construction within the programme "Service Fleet Renovation" for the Amur Waterways Authority, Khabarovsk. No later than in some of these days, the Turach will be put into operation in Khabarovsk waters.

The sixth dry-cargo vessel of type RSD49 Neva-Leader 6 was handed over to the customer.  The ship was built by Nevsky Shipyard for Northwestern Shipping Company. The designer was the St. Petersburg Marine Engineering Bureau.

On 29 October, Yaroslavl Shipyard launched the buoyage vessel Yuri Nikitin of type SV2407; serial No. 156. This is the sixth ship of the type constructed for the Federal Agency for Sea and River Transportation under the Fleet Renovation programme.

On 29 October, Krasnoye Sormovo Plant launched the first non-self-propelled dry-cargo barge intended for shipping bulk cargoes. The construction contract for ten barges was signed in February 2013. The customer is Gazprombank Leasing. Then the barges will be handed over to P.TransCo leasing. Ten contracts were signed by three parties, Krasnoye Sormovo Plant, Gazprombank Leasing and P.TransCo, as reports the plant press service.

Sevmash held a meeting of interdepartment work group chaired by the member of the Military Industrial Committee at the Russian Government V. Pospelov  Representatives of shipbuilding companies, designers, contractors paid special attention to construction and hand-over of nuclear submarines of the new generation, namely those of type Yasen and Borey. In whole, according to the Sevmash press service, work is in accordance with the schedule. In particular, the nuclear submarine Alexander Nevsky completed her state sea trials. Now the Severodvinsk starts her state sea acceptance trials. The Knyaz Vladimir missile carrier passed hydraulic tests. Soon, they will begin installing equipment and systems. The Vladimir Monomakh nuclear submarine has to make several missions to complete sea trials.

On 30 October, the shipbuilding plant of Port Kolomna launched the Kolomensky 1501 push-tug. This is the lead ship of a new series designed by Port Kolomna design bureau. The Kolomensky is second to none in that having such power it can move in shallow rivers.

On 31 October 2013, Moscow Shipbuilding and Shiprepair Yard held a solemn keel-laying of the lead passenger ship Astrakanets of type 23020, serial No. 505 for the Astrakhan region. In all, three serial ships will carry passengers along urban and suburban lines of the Astrakhan region. The designer is MT-Group.

ENGTRANSSTROY Corporation, being a general contractor of berth under the state contract with Rosmorport, made a pile foundation for berth No. 90 with a wing wall of 306 linear metres long. When making a retaining prism, they shipped 1 317 t of sheet piling, fitted 87 anchor plates and 158 anchor rods, filled 16 000 m3 of rocks. They filled 19 500 m3 of sand into the sand prism, under anchor plates and into the berth cavity. They concreted 12 berth sections (790 m3). At present, pile foundation of berth No. 89 is made. Its length is 546 m. They submerged 1 515 tons of the ramp (240 linear metres of the face wall), installed anchor plates and anchor rods at sections No. 22 and No. 21, they fill sand and rock retaining prisms.

On 7 November, the first of the six diesel submarines of type 636 Varshavyanka (classified by NATO as Kilo) will be handed over to Vietnam, as reports i-mash. The flag raising and official signing of the acceptance certificate will took place at the beginning of 2014 in the customer's country. In mid-November, the first boat of the export series will be submerged into the lighter and then, she will sail to her future location. In December 2009, the Vietnam prime-minister Nguyen Tan Dung announced the signing of the supply contract for six Russian submarines of type 636 to the amount of about 2 billion dollars. The whole contract will have been fullfiled by 2016. Varshavyanka ships are built for Vietnam by Admiralty Shipyard, St. Petersburg. In 2012, two boats were launched.  

The United Shipbuilding Corporation has to buy out the distressed asset of Arctech Helsinki Shipyard, Finland. In particular, the corporation shall consolidate 100 per cent of shares of inefficient Arctech Helsinki Shipyard. The corporation owns the shipyard jointly with STX company, South Korea. Now STX place a put option to the USC. The Finnish shipyard is debt-burdened, and to keep it afloat, the USC needs to find orders for approximately 1 billion euro. The option cannot be rejected, it is already accepted. Only the transaction parameters are to be agreed. The transaction value is confidential, but, according to experts, it will not exceed 20 million euro.

Yaroslavl Shipyard (VP FINSUDPROM management company) delivered a supply boat Yastreb of type 12260 , serial No. 610 by rail. The oat was built for the Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation.

The St. Petersburg Governor Georgy Poltavchenko and the president of the Republic of Ecuador Rafael Vicente Correa Delgado will enter into cooperation agreement concerning relationships between St. Petersburg and port Guayaquil. During the official visit to Russia, the president of Ecuador was in St. Petersburg. The parties also agreed on expansion of their business and cultural cooperation. In particular, Russian specialists will assist Ecuador in developing a science town, namely a research centre for R&D in nanotechnologies, biosphere, IT and textiles.

Since the beginning of the year, a total of 1.26 million tons of cargo has been shipped along the along the Northern sea route, as reports ITAR-TASS. Such a shipment volume is comparable with one for the whole year of 2012. According to Rosmorrechflot (Federal Agency for Sea and River Transport), in 2012 the transiting volume made up 1.2 million tons. "Since the beginning of this year no less than 51 transit passages were made as compared against 46 passages of the last year. In 2011, there were 34 passages and the volume of transportations made up 0.82 million tons," said the first deputy director general of Atomflot State Corporation Mustafa Kashka.

Verkhnekamsk Shipbuilding Company successfully handed over the second dry-cargo vessel Alexander of type 17605 and river-sea class.
