In 2013, the shipbuilding output jumped 6.4 percent. This was stated by the Ministry of Industry and Trade in the Performance Report Summary of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia for 2013 on the Russian Government website. According to this document, last year they completed the construction of the second Borey nuclear submarine and the Yasen lead nuclear submarine. As for civil shipbuilding, 79 vessels were built and delivered to the customers.
On 30 April, the stern of the second multipurpose Landing Platform Dock of Mistral class is to be launched by Baltic Shipyard. The stern will be transported to the French shipyard in June 2014 to be docked with the bow. Until that time, Baltic Shipyard will complete the construction operations that do not require the stern docked.
Krasnoyarsk Shipyard launched a new non-self-propelled barge-platform (serial No. BP-3005). This is the fifth barge of Type 1960, with a maximum capacity of 3000 tons, and the twenty-seventh in the ERP Fleet Renovation Programme. The new vessel is designed for transporting uncovered cargo (sand, timber, coal, mineral construction materials) as well as vehicles, equipment, containers. The first ship of this type was built in 2011.
Vyborg Shipyard and Arctech Helsinki Shipyard signed a subcontract stating that Vyborg Shipyard is to build sections and blocks for the supply vessel designed by Sakhalin Energy. The ship owner and customer is Sovcomflot. This vessel is the next generation of the serial Alexey Chirikov and Vitus Bering supply vessels, also built in cooperation with Arctech Shipyard and Vyborg Shipyard.
Krasnoye Sormovo Plant held a flag-raising and launching ceremony for two tankers of Type RST27, the Dmitry Pokrovsky and the Valentin Gruzdev. The customer is Moscow River Shipping Company. - River deadweight: 5378 t at draught 3.6 m

Krasnoye Sormovo Plant launched the third non-self-propelled dry-cargo barge designed for transporting bulk cargoes. The construction contract for ten barges was made in February 2013. Then the barges will be delivered to P.TransCo leasing. The vessel is of unmanned type designed for being pushed or towed for movement. The using area is inland waterways of Russia.

Laky Verf launched a multipurpose high-speed boat of Type 14M. The customer is the Transport Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia in the North-West Federal District. Having launched, the vessel will pass sea acceptance trials. The boat will be in service in St. Petersburg.
According to the Minister of Industry and Trade, Denis Manturov, already in May the head of the United Shipbuilding Corporation will be changed. He also announced that a new candidate is already known. However, Mr. Manturov did not tell the name.
Yamal LNG created a short list of shipping companies to transport a liquefied natural gas from the South-Tambey field and to build fuel carriers. The list includes: Sovcomflot, Mitsui and Teekay LNG. In total, the companies are to build 16 ships of Arc7 ice class. LNG tankers of Arc7 class are designed for year-round supply of LNG produced under the Yamal LNG project. The transportation contract is valued at $5b. The contract for gas transportation from the field is to be signed this year. Various mass media note that all the three companies are likely to build the fleet.
The Reka Amur gas carrier entered the Sakhalin Energy fleet. The vessel will transport LNG from the Prigorodnoye facility to the countries in the Asian-Pacific Region. The Reka Amur LNG tanker will start transportation of Sakhalin liquefied natural gas in 2015. The gas carrier is equipped with membrane-type cargo tanks of 149.7 thousand cubic metres. The ship is designed for operation under low temperatures and is of 1A FS ice class thus being capable to work in ice conditions.
The Orel nuclear submarine of the Northern Fleet was sent for repair to Severodvinsk. The submarine was placed in the dock at Zvyozdochka Shiprepair Centre. The submarine of Antey type is to be repaired for less than two years. Upon completing the repair, the submarine service life will be extended by 3.5 years.
