On 5 August, the Vyborg Shipyard laid the keel of the lead icebreaker of Type 21900 М to be built on the Atlant self-submersible barge platform. The ceremony was attended by representatives of the Federal Agency for Sea and River Transportation, Rosmorport State Corporation, heads of shipyards and shiprepairers of the country. The barge commissioning allows Vyborg Shipyard to improve the shipbuilding process by decreasing the cost and performance time and to obtain wider discretion about dimensions of vessels under construction, which were restricted before.
The Khabarovsk Shipyard successfully launched the RN Ussuri tug. The tug constructed for the needs of the Rosneft company is a powerful ship of Arctic class ARC4 designed for year-round coastal voyage in sea areas at maximum roughness with a wave height up to 7 m. Apart from towing and pushing, the ship can fight fires.

In Rybinsk, Vympel Shipyard launched the Mangust patrol boat built by the order of the Border Guard of Federal Security Service of Russia, reports the Yaroslavl Region. The new ship will soon arrive to the Customer.

Sredne-Nevsky Shipbuilding Plant laid the keel of push-tug (Type 81, serial No. 814), which is the fifth of the six vessels supplied under the contract with P.TransCo concluded in February 2013. The push-tug of azimuthal motion has a full displacement of 365 t, length 25 m, width 10 m. The vessel is designed for pushing and short-term (emergency) towing of barges of Type 82 with a full displacement of about 5200 tons and speed of 10 knots. The ship is of Russian River Registry class М3.0 (ice 10) A, which means "sea-going, capable of moving in ice 10 cm thick and at wave height 3.0 m")

Baltic Shipyard and Nordic Yards concluded a construction contract for the accommodation in the superstructure of the V. Chernomyrdin icebreaker LK-25. Under the terms of the contract, the accommodation of about 2 500 t in weight will be built at Nordic Yards and delivered by sea to Baltic Shipyard.

The Department of physical fields of sea facilities and ocean of Krylov State Research Centre completed the second stage of R&D work "Noise" under the Federal Target Programme "Development of Civil Marine Equipment", as reports the press office of the State Research Centre. This stage included development of designs for typical structures of systems used for compensating low-frequency electromagnetic field and normalising constant magnetic field in ship areas and sea facilities to standard permissible levels specified by Sanitary Rules and Norms.

Rosmorport State Corporation Norwegian Cruise Line Ltd signed an agreement on time charter for Norwegian Jade cruise liner. On 1 August, a similar agreement concerning the Snav Toscana ship was concluded by Rosmorport with Grandi Navi Veloci. The Norwegian Cruise Line Ltd and Grandi Navi Veloci companies are winners of the open request for proposal made by Rosmorport State Corporation in 2013. The mentioned ships will be used as floating hotels when arranging spectators and temporary staff at the Winter Olympic Games in Sochi next year, as reports press office of the company

The SCF Yenisei tanker left for its Arctic voyage. The ship of MR standard size (deadweight 47000 t) of high ice-class Ice-1A (Arc4) will follow the Northern Sea Route to the port of Chiba, Japan, carrying light oil products on board. The Murmansk-Chiba route will be 5767 nautical miles
(56 per cent less than the distance through the Suez canal (12840 m). The tanker is chartered by Glencore company, which is becoming a partner of Sovcomflot in the long-term mutually beneficial cooperation under the joint venture of a product tanker fleet.

Ilyichevsk container terminal completed the construction of the customs examination facility. The facility can house twenty containers to be examined and occupies the rear parts of berths 5 and 6. The facility is intended for examining containers exported from the terminal in the customs transit mode, as reports the press office of National Container Company.

The SPASATEL KAVDEIKIN multipurpose rescue vessel (Type MPSV07) built by Nevsky Shipyard sails around Scandinavia from St. Petersburg to Murmansk. On 19 July 2013, after the successful completion of sea acceptance trials, the vessel was delivered to the customer, as reports the press office of Nevsky Shipyard. The customer is the Federal Agency for Sea and River Transportation, Russian Ministry of Transport. The designer is the St. Petersburg Marine Engineering Bureau.
