The launching ceremony of the Koida 2 full-freezer trawler of type 50010 took place at Zvyozdochka Shiprepair Centre. The construction programme at the defence shipyard for fishing fleet was started in 1995. Type 50010 ship was chosen as a base ship designed by Sckhuna Central Marine Design Bureau, Kiev. The project was implemented with the active assistance of Arkhangelsk Region Administration, which provided loan guarantees for ship construction and quotas for bioresource catching for newly constructed trawlers as reported by press office of the plant.

On the night of 24/25 June, Zvyozdochka Shiprepair Centre, being a member of the United Shipbuilding Corporation, launched the Marshal Ustinov missile cruiser of type 1164 Atlant.
The missile cruiser was docked at Zvyozdochka for scheduled repair in June 2011. The repair was conducted under the state contract for the maintenance of the Northern Fleet ships. The contract was signed between the Russian Ministry of Defence and Zvyozdochka Shiprepair Centre.
On 26 June, the Baltic Shipyard launched the stern of the first Russian Landing Platform Dock of Mistral class. Vice-Governor of St. Petersburg, Igor Golikov noted that an exclusive ship would soon be included into the Russian Navy.(Source: IA REGNUM). In July, on the same slipway A of the Baltic Shipyard, the stern of the second Landing Platform Dock Sevastopol will be laid.
Azov Basin Branch of Rosmorport State Corporation and the manufacturer started field tests of solar propulsion system mounted for summer navigation in 2013 on one of the existing navigational beacons of the Azov-Don maritime canal.
The solar propulsion system consists of a solar module, battery, charge controller and sealed container for equipment. This propulsion system is supposed to significantly expand the life of the power source using solar energy and to ensure stable operation of separate circuits of the navigational beacon.
The Russian Navy is the sixth among the largest fleets in the world as regards the number of vessels. The rating was made by the GFP analytic centre, US (Source: PortNews). China is the first as regards the number of combat ships (972). The second is North Korea (708 ships). The third is Thailand (596 ships). They are followed by: Iran (408 ships), US (290 ships), and Russia (224 ships). It is worth noting that the rating considers only quantitative but not qualitative indices.
On 27 June, the ZNT Yard, Nizhny Novgorod, laid keels of four boats of the integrated search-and-rescue support (type 23040) for the Russian Ministry of Defence. The construction state contract for 16 inshore boats of the integrated search-and-rescue support (type 23040) for the Russian Ministry of Defence was signed with the ZNT Yard at the end of March 2013.
A new boat is a further development of a series of ten diving boats (type А160) constructed by the ZNT Yard from 2010 to 2012 for the Russian Federal Security Service as well as the Pelican diving boat (type ZT28D) designed by the design department of the Yard.
Compared with the previously most famous Flamingo boats and their successors, the boats of types 14157 and 23040 have larger dimensions, higher power availability and ice class. It allows their steady operation in outer harbours and abroad being at a distance up to 50 miles from shelter locations.
The V.F.Tanker shipping company accepted for operation the ninth tanker constructed in Navashino (Volga-Don Max tanker of type RST27, sea/river deadweight is 7030/5428 t named V.F. Tanker-19. Source: press office of Marine Engineering Bureau. It is worth mentioning that it is the first chemical carrier of type RST27 built in Navashino.
Compared with other ships of the Marine Engineering Bureau, the tanker of the new type RST27 has a strengthened river function and river deadweight increased by 716 t (if compared with Armadas, for instance) having:
- Increased hull strength (sea class R2 or the second area as per the rocket missile)
- Almost the same fuel consumption
- The same increased capacity of cargo tanks
One of the main reasons why the Gulftainer Company has entered the Russian container shipping market is that Russia has a great potential to develop container shipping. This was said by the managing director Rob Humby during the Russian Ports conference (Source: PortNews,).
"Now the Russian container shipping market is rather rich, and I hope that constructing new ports such as that in Ust-Luga will increase the container shipping", noted Mr. Humby.
