The scheduled repair of the Varyag missile cruiser is completed. The repairer, Dalzavod Shiprepair Centre, delivered the missile cruiser for combat tasks. According to the commander Alexander Potapov, within the given time, they carried out dock repair, service maintenance and repair of weapons. The work is of high quality and meets the schedule. They carried out routine maintenance to prepare the cruiser for long ocean mission
Krylov State Research Centre participated in the largest international exhibition Wetex-2013 in the Far East. The exhibition was devoted to innovative development in the field of energy and water resources. The exhibition was held in the international exhibition complex in Dubai from 15 to 17 April, as reports the Centre press office. It became a regional site for demonstrating the latest achievements before the United Arab Emirates opens tenders in 2014 to 2015. 


Baltic Shipyard jointly with Saint-Petersburg State Marine Technical University (SPbSMTU) opens a student design and technology bureau. As reported by REGNUM news agency, senior students under the guidance of the experienced designers and engineers of the Baltic Shipyard will create real vessels and ships. A group of eighteen students started practical training in the Baltic Shipyard. The core students are those who underwent definitive training in the University in the fields of Baltic Shipyard. Also there are senior students who are going to get a job at the shipyard. The tutors will be experienced specialists of the shipyard. The students will master the selected areas in the field.

China offered Russia to create a joint enterprise for construction and disposal of floating nuclear thermal power plants, as informs Novosti news agency referring to the director general of Rusatom Overseas Jomart Aliyev. "We made an agreement with the Chinese which is not meant for further development. At least now, our relationship does not imply any technological cooperation. The commercial suitability only will be treated", said the director general of Rusatom Overseas.

Zelenodolsk Shipbuilding Plant will build sixteen ships for the Ministry of Defence. At present, 80 per cent of our common stock of the company orders is for the Ministry of Defence, as reports the Military-Industrial Complex referring to the head of Gorky Zelenodolsk Shipbuilding Plant Mistakhov Renat.

Sevmash started a large scale re-equipment. Due to the state support, the company production base is planned to be cardinally updated by 2020. It will help Sevmash to execute a state defence order at a fundamentally new level and to reduce production expenses. Such re-equipment has not been performed since last seventies.

This year, it is planned to include two nuclear submarine missile carriers of type 955 Borey and one nuclear multi-purpose submarine of type 855 Yasen to the Russian Navy. As reported the director of the state defence order department of the Russian Ministry of Defence Andrey Vernigora in the course of the panel discussion in Moscow, the construction progress and the scope of work show that these submarines will be built by the end of the year.

On 22 April 2013, the Hyundai Mipo Dockyard Co.Ltd. shipyard, South Korea, laid a keel of the second gas carrier ordered by Sovcomflot under the contract concluded with SIBUR oil and gas holding, as reports the Sovcomflot press office.

Vyborg Shipyard completes construction of semi-submersible barge. The barge commissioning will allow to improve the technology of making orders with reduction of the cost and performance time, as well as it will eliminate a part of the shipyard infrastructure restrictions of the ships under construction by their maximum breadth. Now, Vyborg Shipyard will be able to build ships to 30 m wide (earlier, maximum breadth was 18 m) and to 150 m long.

On 23 April 2013, Krasnoye Sormovo Plant (member of the United Shipbuilding Corporation, director general Nikolai Zharkov) launched the tenth tanker of type RST27 Konstruktor Zhivotovsky (named after one of chief designers of the plant) with sea/river deadweight about 7 022/5 420 tons (serial No. 02010). The customer is V.F.Tanker shipping company. The company is part of VBTH holding, whose majority shareholder is international transport group Universal Cargo Logistics Holding, consolidating a number of Russian shipping, stevedoring and shipbuilding companies.

On 23 April, Almaz Marine Plant launched the Sobol border patrol boat of type 12200 (serial No. 215). The boat is intended for coast guard, search and rescue operations, marine resources conservation, patrol, etc

Vladivostok presented the Professor Khlustin production-and-training ship modernised by the Admiral Nevelskoi Maritime State University, Vladivostok.  The first voyage with cadets of the Marine Engineering Department is scheduled for the end of May 2013, as reports the Sovcomflot press office.

Sevmash succeeded in tough operation on transferring the Vikramaditya aircraft carrier from the berth to the flooded dock. This task is the most complicated in shipbuilding. Being in dry dock, the ship will pass scheduled maintenance and will be prepared for sea acceptance trials, which will take placein the White and Barents Seas this summer, as reports the shipyard press office.

Moscow Shipbuilding and Shiprepair Yard launched a transatlantic motor yacht of type TM 47. It is no less than the second yacht of type TM 47 built by the Moscow shipyard and designed by the Dutch bureau Vripack Yachting International, as reports the shipyard press office.

On 25 April, Nevsky Shipbuilding Plant laid a keel of the fourth serial multipurpose rescue vessel of type MPSV07 (serial No. 704, power 4 MW). The vessels are constructed in under the state contract for Federal Agency for Sea and River Transportation of Russia and the State Directorate of Marine Transport Development Programmes. The designer is the St. Petersburg Marine Engineering Bureau. In total, the shipyard builds four ships of type MPSV07. The SPASATEL KAREV lead vessel was delivered to the customer at the end of 2012.

On 25 April 2013, Sovcomflot gave the name to the new tanker Viktor Bakaev holding a solemn event. The tanker-cargo-carrier (LR II class) was built by Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering shipyard. This is the fourth vessel built under the agreement between Sovcomflot and Zvezda-DSME, a joint venture of the United Shipbuilding Corporation, Russia, and Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering, Republic of Korea. The other three tankers, Nikolai Zuyev, Georgy Maslov and Anatoly Kolodkin, are now in service in the Sovcomflot fleet. The Viktor Bakaev tanker complies with all the applicable international and domestic standards for navigation safety, energy efficiency and ecological safety. The vessel is registered in the Lloyd Register.
