October 10 the International Specialised Offshore Exhibition and Conference Offshore Marintec Russia dedicated to the Arctic continental shelf infrastructure development has completed its work
October 7-10 the International Specialised Offshore Exhibition and Conference Offshore Marintec Russia was held at ExpoForum Convention and Exhibition Centre in St. Petersburg. Top players of the global energy and shipbuilding market gathered in the same venue to discuss the most important aspects of the development of the Arctic continental shelf.
The latest technologies in oil and gas extraction, design technologies for various marine facilities, nuclear energy equipment and petrochemical and refinery enterprises was showcased at the stands of the leading enterprises specializing in hydrocarbon production and building equipment for shelf development.
More than 200 companies took part in the event. There were such companies as Gazprom, Gazprom Dobycha Shelf, Gazprom Neft-Sakhalin, Lukoil, Sevmash, Gazprom Neft Shelf, FMC Technologies, Schlumberger, Gazflot, Krylov State Research Centre, Russian Maritime Register of Shipping, Prometey Central Research Institute of Structural Materials, Shtokman Development AG and the range of other companies presenting equipment, engineering and maintenance services for Russian offshore shipbuilding. The event hosted foreign participants from Сhina, Korea, the Netherlands, France, Germany and Norway.

430 delegates from 12 countries took part in the Conference. More than 120 presentations were made during the four days of the Conference. About 5,000 specialists from Russia, Ukraine, China, Korea, Norway, Finland, Germany, Netherlands, France became the visitors of the Exhibition.

The first hours of the Offshore Marintec Russia highlighted the visit of St. Petersburg Governor Georgy Poltavchenko and Alexei Miller, Chairman of the Management Committee of Gazprom. The top-level guests were demonstrated the exposition and spoke to the representatives of the largest Russian and foreign companies. 

Alexey Kontorovich, Member of Russian Academy of Sciences, Chairman of Research Council of Russian Academy of Sciences for Geology, Oil and Gas Resources Development, Evgeny Velikhov, Member of Russian Academy of Sciences, Secretary of the Public Chamber oh the Russian Federation, President of Kurchatov Institute Russian Research Centre, Kirill Molodtsov, Deputy Minister of Energy of the Russian Federation, Andrey Dutov, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation, Valery Golubev, Deputy Chairman of the Management Committee of the Gazprom, Andrey Shishkin, Vice-President of Rosneft Oil Company, Ilya Mandrik, Vice-President Exploration of Lukoil Oil Company took part in official events of the Offshore Marintec Russia .

October 8 the Expoforum Convention and Exhibition Centre hosted the grand Opening Ceremony of the International Specialised Offshore Exhibition and Conference Offshore Marintec Russia . Mikhail Mokretsov, Vice-Governor of St. Petersburg, presented his welcome speech on behalf of the Governor of St. Petersburg Georgy Poltavchenko. He emphasized the significance of Arctic shelf development as major geostrategic goal of Russia. “Today the Arctic shelf of Russia is a vast region requiring industrial development that is of top priority for our country,” stated Mr. Mokretsov. Deputy Minister of Energy of the Russian Federation Kirill Molodtsov also addressed the Forum guests and mentioned how glad he was to see familiar faces and discuss familiar issues together. He supposed that this year the Conference would be “epochal” thanks to rapidly developing activity on the Russian Arctic shelf. He stressed that “natural resources represent first of all strategic reserves for the Russian Federation and the continental shelf is the largest and most promising region for exploration of minerals in modern Russia.”

Strategic goals and further development prospects of oil and gas industry were the main topic of the Plenary session held in the framework of Offshore Marintec Russia Conference and Exhibition. The session was attended by federal executive and legislative authorities, scientists, top managers of the largest Russian companies, specializing in hydrocarbon extraction, storage and transportation. All participants of the discussion mentioned that today Russia has all the potential to develop new advanced ways of geological exploration. In this regard it is needed to consolidate efforts of science, business and related industries.
October 10 Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Arkady Dvorkovich paid official visit to the International Specialised Offshore Exhibition and Conference Offshore Marintec Russia . Arkady Dvorkovich noted with appreciation the latest scientific and technological developments showcased at the exhibition and wished all participants new long-term contracts and fruitful work.
The participants sincerely thanked the organizers and colleagues for the effective cooperation and expressed hope for a new meeting in the autumn of 2016 at the 2nd International Exhibition and Conference Offshore Marintec Russia .
