On Wednesday, the Sakhalin-9 ferry leaves for scheduled repair. It will supposedly resume operation in the ferry line between Sakhalin and Russian mainland since 9 May 2018, according to
Interfax with the reference to DALTRANSSERVICE Sakhalin freight forwarding company.
"According to Sakhalin Shipping Company, the Sakhalin-9 ferry has been out of service since 21 February 2018, in accordance with requirements of Russian Maritime Register of Shipping and time frames of scheduled repair for future classification and dock survey as a passenger ship approved by the shipowner," the statement said.
The repair will take 60 days, without considering the time required for sailing to the repair base and back. "The ferry is expected to return from repair and resume operation in the ferry line on 9 May 2018," according to the freight forwarding company.
For this period the Kholmsk – Vanino line will be served by two ferries: Sakhalin-8 and Sakhalin-10.
It was earlier reported that the Sakhalin-9 ferry will undergo the scheduled repair in China. Once this ferry is back, the Sakhalin-8 ferry will leave for scheduled repair. Its return is scheduled for the end of June.
In this regard, at the end of January Russian Railways and Sakhalin Shipping Company developed a scheduled plan for delivery of consumer goods and railway cargoes (for reconstruction of the island railroad) to Sakhalin during the repair of ferries.
