The Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade website has published the Shipbuilding Industry Development Strategy 2035 to declare priorities of the Russian civil shipbuilding.
The priority categories of competitive Russian civilian marine technologies are:
- New generation nuclear icebreakers
- New generation diesel-electric icebreakers
- Modern research vessels
- Offshore platforms and special equipment for developing oil and gas fields in the Arctic shelf
- Marine power plants for producing energy in coastal areas
- Marine transport vessels of ice class
- River-sea transport vessels
- Special vessels of ice class
- Fishing vessels
- High-speed passenger craft
All the listed categories of vessels and marine equipment facilities may be considered, to some extent, as high technologies with a great share of added value. In total, such a situation is in line with the European shipbuilding development trends, but shows a significant national specificity based on unique conditions, possibilities and competences.
