This was reported by the Governor of the region Marina Kovtun when reporting to deputies of the Murmansk Region Duma on the activities of the regional government in 2017.

Implementation of this project, as well as the projects of the Kola Mining and Metallurgical Company, Apatit branch in Kirov, Kovdorsk Mining and Refining Plant, and NWPC, all associated with development of the ore mining base and modernization of existing processing facilities, and also construction of the icebreaking fleet plus a number of other projects — all this makes us fully confident to say that our region becomes a stronghold for development of the Russian Arctic area and the largest logistics center of the Russian North. This is seemed as the strategic mission of the region,» — stated Marina Kovtun.
