It becomes known that Klavesin-2 trials are started at the Feodosia sea range.
The trials of the newest unmanned vehicle Klavesin-2 with official military index 2R52 are started at the Feodosia sea range in Crimea. This was reported by Izvestia. According to the Central Administration of the Russian Navy, type 20360OS special trial ship Viktor Cherokov recently delivered to the Black Sea Fleet will also participate in the trials.
The Klavesin-2R is a Russian second-generation unmanned autonomous underwater vehicle (AUV). This vehicle is larger in size and weight comparing to its predecessor Klavesin-1 which resembles a torpedo in appearance and dimensions. AUV 2R52 looks rather like a small submarine with a superstructure, it has a length of approximately 7 metres, diameter of approximately 1 metre and weight of more than 4 tons. The vehicle is capable of submerging maximum 6000 metres deep; the operational range is 50 km.
It is supposed that AUV 2R52 will be delivered by dedicated nuclear submarines, including modernized type 949AM nuclear submarines and converted BS-64 Podmoskovye special-purpose nuclear submarine of type 09787.
